Ingredients

  • 16 oz elbow macaroni
  • 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • 2 lbs hamburger

Steps

1

Fill a pasta pot with 12 cups of water and cook on a stove burner set on high heat to bring water to a boil.

2

Once water is at a boil, pour the macaroni noodles in and stir occasionally. Proceed to step 3 and cook the hamburger and the noodles simultaneously.

3

Put 2 lbs of hamburger in a skillet and cook on medium to high heat. Use a spatula to break hamburger into smaller portions and stir until brown. Once the hamburger is brown you can turn the heat off or to a very low setting until you’re ready to add them to the pot in step 6.

4

Once the noodles are cooked, place a strainer in the sink and pour the noodle pot into the strainer. Once the water is drained from the strainer pour the noodles from the strainer back into the noodle pot.

5

Add the tomato sauce and roughly 2/3’s of the tomato paste to the noodle pot and stir until the noodles are covered and no clumps of tomato sauce or paste exist. The sauce and paste may clump or pool at the bottom of the pot, make sure to stir thoroughly for best results.

6

Once the hamburger is cooked, use a slotted ladle to scoop hamburger, let any grease drain and add it to the goulash mixture in the noodle pot. Once all the hamburger is added, stir until the hamburger is spread evenly throughout mixture.

7

Let cool and serve.
